Introducing the captain and lead point guard of Google, Saron Leung. Sports has always been Saron’s passion, he started playing tennis as a kid and soccer when he was at the age of 13. Saron only started playing basketball during high school when he played during lunch time with his classmates. “I was lucky enough to make the high school team but I’ve not had a chance to play competitively since so till FTBL gave me the opportunity to get back into it!” said Saron.
Saron is the Industry Head for Financial Services within their large customer sales team at Google.
He partners with Google’s Financial Services clients by bringing them the best of Google and help them connect instantly and seamlessly with their customers.
This is Saron & Google’s first season at FTBL. Saron said that Google’s best game had to be their first game against Livi Bank. “It was our first time playing together and we managed to overcome a four point deficit in the last quarter to win by six points at the end.” he said proudly. Saron also mentioned that this game had to be the game he was most proud of.
“The passion, energy and friendly competition on the court is what excites me the most in FTBL” Saron said. He was amazed with the level of commitment and support shown by Google. Saron said “Almost every conversation in the office now begins with what happened during the games”. Through FTBL, the people at Google engages and supports each other more in the office.
Saron was glad to say “What makes FTBL special is that you get to connect with people on the court rather than just in meeting rooms”. Saron also mentioned a funny story that Google had a meeting with HKT Financial Services on the court and in a meeting room all within the same week, both teams had a good laugh.
Overall, Saron would like to say that FTBL is fantastic, “This league is super well-organised and gives us an incredible opportunity to come together after work and just have fun on the court.”

Mostly the other teams in our group for now.

Matt from our team! I am just glad he’s in our team and we don’t need to defend against him.

Every game we’ve played so far have been very competitive and intense!
